My Journey From Productivity To Purpose

January 31, 2024

Recently, I spent some time with a business mentor, and as a result I've been giving a lot of thought to my ‘why’ for what I do through my work. How do I more clearly communicate my philosophy behind fitness, nutrition, and mental/emotional/spiritual wellbeing? Now that I'm a few years into having my own business, what have I learned, what do I believe, and how does that shape my business & coaching goals, processes & outcomes?

I'll be honest; I'm really great at being efficient and getting a lot of things done. I'm pretty high energy with a high capacity and a schedule that reflects that—our family's shared Google calendar might cause some of you to develop a nervous twitch, ha! And while high productivity is neither good nor bad, I've learned that if I spend too much time moving too quickly, then sometimes intentionality can be sacrificed on the altar of efficiency. When I lose sight of my why, everything can become a little too frenetic, a little too much about the checklist and not enough about leading and operating from a place of peace, rest, confidence, and clarity.

While coaching is my business, it's also something I view as much more than that—my calling, my purpose and, ultimately, my ministry. I'll be spending some more time reflecting on my why and how the services I offer fit into that. In the coming months I’ll also be sharing more about my philosophies regarding fitness, nutrition, and emotional/spiritual wellbeing, and I invite you to join me in considering the same for you—not just what we do, but why we do it so that we're more than just productive; we're purposeful.
