Six Reasons You're Not Seeing Results

March 5, 2024

It's not uncommon for my clients to complain at one point or another that they're not seeing progress as quickly as they want/hoped to. When this happens, I ask them these six questions:

1. Are you being honest about your consistency? Get honest with yourself about how consistent you actually are. Are you working out 4-5 times a week and tracking your food or are you being sporadic? Results = consistency with small disciplines over time.

2. Are you tracking your workouts & food? Get a food and fitness journal or download an app for accurate tracking.  Write down your workouts and track your food & portion sizes. That will give you a much more realistic view into whether or not you should be farther along or if there are simple adjustments that need to be made.

3. Are you ruling our other important factors? Not enough quality sleep and too much stress can be huge impeders of progress. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and focus on reducing stress in healthy ways.

4. Has your body adapted to your workouts? Our bodies are designed to be adaptable, which is great most of the time ... but it can mean your favorite workout routine is no longer bringing you the same results. You may need to try something totally different. Mix up your workouts to keep your body guessing.  Variety is essential for results and progress. Need suggestions, reach out!

5. Are you taking recovery days? Too much exercise may be over-stressing your body. It's important to give your muscles a day or two to fully recover—you can still go for a walk or do yoga, but it's equally important to work in active recovery days.

6. Are you avoiding carbs? Glycogen (carbohydrates stored in your muscles and liver) if your body's primary energy source for high-intensity workouts. Plus, insulin, which your body releases when you eat carbs, helps your body absorb the amino acids from protein.  Protein and healthy/whole food carbs work hand in hand for weight loss and body composition improvements.

Asked yourself these questions and still unsure why you aren't seeing the results you want? Let's chat! I'm here to help make sure you're achieving your goals.
